About us
KWS language Services was created in response to the glaring need for quality, affordable and convenient means of learning Swahili in the United States.In the recent years due to the rapidly changing geo-political conditions, there has been an influx of Swahili speaking refugees, among others, to the Western World.
As a result, thousands of volunteers have signed up to work among the refugees. KWS language services founder creator Karen Wanjiru Stringer, and her husband Scott have been working within the refugee communities in their home city of St. Louis, for about a decade now.
As a volunteer, she noticed that most English-speaking volunteers were struggling to find resources to help them learn Swahili. Using her experience as a native Swahili speaker, a college professor and an avid language learner herself, Karen set out to create a service that would combine both quality and affordability into a convenient program that could be taken at one's own pace and translation services that would help these refugees better understand services that were being offered to them.
This platform would become KWS Language services which consists of two entities: KWS translations and LSN: SWAHILI for Hearts on a mission. Because of our origins, using language as a means of service to our fellow humans, is always at the heart of everything we do. and it is our hope that we will find an opportunity to colloborate.

Our clientele consists of volunteers who work within Swahili speaking refugee communities, Expatriates working in East Africa and individual seeking to connect with Swahili speaking family members.

LSN: Swahili for HOAMis App is our flagship product, designed to guide
learners to fluency with its comprehensive curriculum that covers grammar, vocabulary,
pronunciation, and cultural insights. The app offers a blend of audio, video, and
interactive content, making learning both fun and effective.
Our Approach:Â
We believe in a personalized learning journey. That’s why our program can be adapted to each learner’s pace and style, ensuring a tailored experience that meets individual goals and schedules. Our strategies are crafted for non-immersive settings,
